Welcome to St. Xavier's D.Ed College, Kolhapur.
There were numbers of Marathi medium Schools in Kolhapur. But the local elites felt that the education of Kolhapureans would be incomplete without an English medium school. Ever aware of the importance of English language as a medium of instruction, Jesuits gave heed to the plea of Rotary Club of Kolhapur and started St. Xavier's High School in 1957.
The number of English medium schools has risen considerably since then. Today there are about 99 english medium schools in Kolhapur . But the common problem of all these schools is, the shortage of competent teachers to teach in English medium. These institution rely on the supply of efficient teachers from the success outside the city.
The local leaders and the Education department have urged the management of St. Xavier's High school to start the English medium D.Ed college. The Management of St. Xavier's High School who always rises to the demands of time, has initiated the task of establishing D.Ed college under the intelligent guidance of The Manager, Rev. Fr. Thomas Salve.S.J.
